Spirometry is a simple test used to diagnose and monitor certain lung conditions such as
pulmonary fibrosis
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
cystic fibrosis
asthma
A spirometry test can assess how serious your condition is, how your condition is developing and how you are responding to treatment.
The test measures how much air you can breathe out in one forced breath. During the test you will blow out as much air as you can, as hard and as fast as you can into a device called a spirometer.
Spirometry tests are often completed in a hospital or clinic setting but can also be completed at home. The patientMpower platform allows you to complete spirometry tests from the comfort of your own home. Your results can be shared automatically with your clinical care team in real time. This allows for continuous monitoring, more appropriate care and fewer hospital visits.
Our app integrates with the Spirobank Smart Spirometer, pictured below.
