patientMpower has released a new in-app feature which will give you feedback and helpful tips to improve your spirometry technique.
During clinic-based spirometry tests, your clinician is on hand to coach you on proper technique. They will often give you tips on ways to improve the accuracy of your readings. This new feature aims to do the same for your home spirometry tests.
After taking a spirometry reading, you will be given feedback on your technique. You may be asked to take another reading, you may be given tips on ways to improve your spirometry blows, or you may be told you have perfect technique! It is important that you fully consider the feedback as it is intended to improve the accuracy of your results. Coughing, hesitating, reduced effort and length of blow can all result in inaccurate readings which limit their usability by your clinician.
Some possible feedback messages are shown below:
Spirometry Sessions
With this new release you can now take multiple tests within the same spirometry session. Once you get to the results screen, you will be given the option to do another test or you can finish the session, as shown below. This is useful if your customised feedback advises you to do another test to improve the accuracy of your reading.
Remember to always take a break and have a sip of water if needed, especially if you are doing more than one test. It is advised not to do more than 8 tests in any one session.
If you have any questions about the feedback you receive, please contact us through the chat box in your app or you can email us at support@patientmpower.com.
You can also let us know what you think of the new feature! User feedback is very important to us and helps us to make improvements to the patientMpower app.
