The A&D BP Monitor connects to the patientMpower app via Bluetooth and measures Blood Pressure and Pulse.
To take a reading, follow the steps below. Prefer to watch a video? Click here and follow the steps provided.
Note: Bluetooth on your mobile/tablet must be switched on at all times to take the reading.
Open the patientMpower app.
Pair the BP monitor to the app. If you have not done so before, you can find the steps here.
Roll up your sleeve and place the cuff around your upper left arm, at heart level, about 1-2cm above the inside of the elbow as shown below. Line up the artery position mark (white dot) with your ring finger as show below.
Note: Make sure the cuff is directly against the skin and that your sleeve isn't rolled up too tightly that it may constrict the upper arm.
Press the Start button. The screen will light up and the cuff will begin to inflate. It is normal for the cuff to feel very tight. A pressure bar indicator will be displayed on the screen.
Note: If you need to stop inflation at any time, press the Start button again.
When inflation is complete, deflation will start automatically and a measurement will be taken - this can take approximately 60 seconds. Hold still for the duration of the measurement.
Note: If an appropriate pressure is not obtained, the device will start to inflate again automatically.
Once the measurement is complete, the systolic and diastolic pressure readings and pulse rate will display on the screen. The cuff will exhaust the remaining air and will deflate completely.
The up and down arrows will start to flash - this means the BP monitor is ready to send the readings across to your patientMpower app.
After a few seconds, the results should appear on your app. You can add a note if you'd like or you can return to the home screen.
Your blood pressure reading is now complete! If you are connected to a hospital, these results will be automatically sent across to your clinician for monitoring.
