Users can sometimes experience Bluetooth connection issues between the patientMpower app and their spirometer device. If this occurs, follow the steps below. After every step, try to reconnect your spirometer and take a measurement.

For Android

  1. Confirm Bluetooth on your mobile or tablet device is switched on.

  2. Remove the batteries from the spirometer and reinsert. This will refresh your spirometer's Bluetooth connection. Please make sure the batteries are inserted the correct way, as indicated on the device.

  3. Replace the batteries with new ones.

  4. Make sure Location Permission is allowed for the patientMpower app. The app needs access to your device's location in order to connect to the spirometer via Bluetooth. To check this, go to your device's Settings and click on Apps or Apps & Notifications depending on your device. Select patientMpower from the list of apps. Click on Permissions and then make sure Location is switched on.

  5. Make sure the spirometer hasn't connected to another phone or tablet in your surrounding area. If it has, please disconnect it.

  6. Make sure the spirometer hasn't connected to your phone/tablet itself rather than the patientMpower app. You can check this by going to your device's Settings and finding the list of Bluetooth Paired Devices. If the spirometer is there (displayed as Z00XXXX), disconnect it by clicking on Forget Device. You can then try to connect the spirometer through the patientMpower app.

  7. Clear the cache stored by the patientMpower app. To do this, go to Settings on your phone/tablet. Click on Apps or Apps & Notifications depending on your device. Select patientMpower from the list of apps. Click on Storage and then click on the option to Clear Cache.

  8. Uninstall and reinstall the patientMpower app on to your phone/tablet. Log in again using your existing password and email address. Make sure to allow Location Permission when prompted.

For iOS

  1. Confirm Bluetooth on your iPhone or iPad is switched on.

  2. Remove the batteries from the spirometer and then reinsert. This will refresh your spirometer's Bluetooth connection. Please make sure the batteries are inserted the correct way, as indicated on the device.

  3. Replace the batteries with new ones.

  4. Make sure the spirometer hasn't connected to another phone or tablet in your surrounding area. If it has, please disconnect it.

  5. Uninstall and reinstall the patientMpower app on to your phone. This will clear the cache stored by the app. To do this, hold down on the patientMpower app on the menu screen and click on Remove App. You can then download the patientMpower app again from the App Store. Log in using your existing password and email address.
