  • Make sure the device switches on. Place the pulse oximeter on the tip of your middle finger. The screen should light up. If it doesn't, it may be because the batteries need replacing or have been inserted the wrong way.

Please note: Due to a manufacturing fault the batteries don't insert as expected. Please take care to insert the batteries so that the polarity markings (+ and -) are matching as indicated on the device.

  • Make sure your hands are clean and free from any residue eg. dried blood, dirt, grease, oil, etc.

  • Remove any artificial nails or fingernail polish.

  • The device may not work if circulation is reduced. If your hands are cold, rub them together for a few minutes or run them under a warm tap.

Please note: Poor circulation and conditions such as Raynaud's disease can greatly reduce the accuracy of your results. If you have a condition that affects your blood flow, please let your clinician know as the Nonin 3230 Pulse Oximeter device may not be suitable for you.
